Do you have the kind of teen who wants to make art and be creative but they’re not interested in following a controling formula? Do they complain about past art teachers telling them “how to do it the right way”. Then this is place for them

Come into mine and Steve’s art studio and gallery, 4277 Fraser street, where we work full time as artists. At the end of the week we will have an art show in the studio gallery!

Each day we will have a variety of new projects to make. Steve and I will give your teens some guidance and direction but after that they can let their minds take over and see what happens. Steve is a master of sculpture, video/media, painting and teaches at Langara college. Together we will have many cool skills to show off and teach. If they choose to take a break they might find it relaxing to draw or work on a variety of side project options. Maybe they need a snack and want to relax while reading a book? I will have a cozy area with lots of graphic novels to look through. 

Each day at around 1:45-2 we pack up and drive to a new local park or gallery to draw, or view the art. I will send a list of all the galleries/parks a week before the camp starts. At 3/3:30 we meet back at the studio for pick up, or if they are free to leave from the location we’re at they can do so! 

Some past projects from my art camps included:

Solar printed tote bags (printmaking), frankenstein stuffies (sewing), lamps, squeegee painting, fabric marker/paint on t-shirts, pottery, graffiti, button making, felting, beading, and paper mache.

We will be introducing them to assemblage, painting, and lino printing as well!

Camp runs Aug.17 - Aug.21( 5 days) 10:30-3:00. Location is 4277 Fraser st (alley entrance). For ages 12-17. An art exhibition will take place Friday night at 7pm (at People gallery in our studio)!
